The characteristic octagonal-shape ( four prospectives of as many seventeenth-century buildings alternated by four openings ). Resemble the behind the scenes of a stage, especially because the sun’s rays, at any time of day, light up at least one of the four facades.

Built in Florence in 1554 by Francesco Camilliani, but in 1581 was moved to Piazza Pretoria in Palermo. The central part is surrounded by sculptural depictions of various mythological gods.
